Hey Grandpa, What's for Supper? Part 2

Thank you Aneesa,s Muse and Backyard Buddies. DH took me to the DR yesterday morning and the antibiotics are kicking in. It was just a UTI but those that have had them know they are NO fun!

I know, why is it that I have ideas for her and not for me!? Like Aneesa said when you ask for ideas no body ever has any. When you put supper on the table they say, I was hoping we were having Tacos!

Backyard Buddies I have burger, bratwurst, deer stew meat, bacon. Fridge- Leftover spag noodles, onions, cucumbers, mozz and cheddar cheese and a few eggs!

I suppose it because I have no appetite yet. The antibiotics and pain meds make me feel awful! I sure would appreciate any ideas you might have.

Any French baguette there, thechickenchick? A really simple no fuss meal would be to grill up the brats, toss them in the bread with some grilled onions and mozz cheese.

I hope you feel better soon.

Actually I do have a loaf of french bread I baked yesterday. That will work wonderful. Thank you for the well wishes and a great solution. That even gives me time for a nap.

Wonderful, thechickenchick! When you're not feeling well, sometimes the easiest route is the way to go. And who knows. Perhaps after that nap you'll even be inspired to whip up something else!

thechickenchick - OUCH! I'm glad those antibiotics are working, hopefully you'll feel better in the morning.

Fish 'n Chips for us tonight. I beer battered some pollack fillets, fried 'em up along with some homemade fries and served it wrapped in butcher's paper. Malt vinegar to taste. Lemon curd tartlets for dessert. No veggies ... why ruin a good thing with something healthy!

Thanks chickenchick! Hope those meds work quick!

Aneesa- I agree, Maple Chicken sounds GREAT!! Recipe please!!

Decided to coat chicken with some type of dry bisquick coating(that always seems to get nice and crispy) and bake it. Make some mashed tater's heat up some cr. shroom soup for gravy for both, and some broccoli, maybe with cheese sauce. Homemade choc. pudding for dessert. Hopefully DH will bring wine home.

Sift all ingredients Store in jar.
Measure out 1C. mix into pan, grad. stir in 2 3/4C. milk until blended. Cook over very low heat until thick and starts to boil. boil 1 min. while stirring. Remove from heat, stir in 1-1 1/2t.vanilla, if wanted stir in 2T. buttter until melted.

I have recipes for many other flavors of pudding, if you want those also I can put those on here also.

cknmom - thanks so much!!! I would LOVE to have your other pudding recipes, when you get a chance. My DS loves pudding, and I hate buying the boxes. You're a life saver. Thanks again.

It's simple, cknmom.. really simple!

Preheat to 400F.

Cut up two small sweet potatoes, peeled optional
6 fresh sprigs of Thyme
Coarsely chop one small'ish, medium onion
Salt n' pepper
Olive oil to coat taters and onions ..about 2 T.

In 9x13 roasting pan, toss the above until lightly coated and level around the pan.

3.5 - 4 lb. bird, cut into 8 pieces
Salt n' pepper
3 T. Maple syrup

Pat your chicken pieces dry and season them up with the salt n' pepper. Nestle those pieces in with the taters and onions and drizzle the maple syrup over them. I actually used less syrup than 3 T. cuz I'm not a huge fan of that kind of sweet ..and the taters will be sweet.

Mid way.. stir the vegetables around a bit and continue baking. It should be done in an hour or a little more, depending on your oven, of course.

I have some fresh bread ...making Co'n Chowdah right now

..and will fry up some green beans, as a side. I have some jasmine rice already steamed, as well. I'm thinking about making happyhen's clafouti recipe ..but I only have apples or mixed berries ..and not sure how that will go over. (I can do an angel food "parfait" type thingy with the berries and some pudding... just have to see. Ohh.. or apple turnovers ..I just remembered I have some puff pastry

)

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone ...and thechickenchick ...give that "bug" heck and feel better soon!
