Hey Grandpa, What's for Supper? Part 2

I made teriyaki chicken yesterday, but neither one of us ate ...so that was dinner tonight.

I have no idea what dinner will be tomorrow.... but I think buttermilk pancakes will be breakfast

We are having friends over for a bbq tonight. The weather is beautiful and is supposed to hit about 70.

On the menu, Big juicy hamburgers, pineapple sausage kabobs with grilled veggies, tater salad, homemade baked beans, pineapple salsa with red onion-pasilla-and cilantro, deviled eggs, and some sort of dessert that I better figure out soon.

You are all way ahead of me! No idea yet. I just barely got breakfast cleaned up. We had waffles, scrambled eggs with onions, mushrooms and cheese, and bacon and sausage.

The sleepover went well. This is the first I have met this young man and he seems like a very nice kid.

There was even a waffle and some eggs left over for the chickens!

One of my Farm Town (game on facebook) neighbors mentioned baking a chicken and some taters, so I think I may do the same ..with a little Meyer lemon and shallot sauce for it ...some new taters ..and some fresh greens from my real life garden

Amazing to me.. the neighbor I speak of is 13 y.o. ...and already sharing recipes ..he's a very good kid!

Redfeathers.. your BBQ plans sound amazing! How 'bout a cobbler or some kind of fruit pie a'la mode for dessert?

This morning I was sick on the couch, kids helped themselves to yogurt and tortilla chips for breakfast...oh well its food. Tonight I think its going to be chicken Parmesan like they make at Ruby Tuesday. My son had it one night and I said "gee, I could make that" and I do

ITs so good. Sauce on the plate, a mild mac and cheese on top, crispy chicken (or chicken nuggets) on top and a Parmesan sauce on top of that. It gets all mixed together when you eat it.

Aneesa's Muse Great idea! I have frozen apple slices that I can make a crisp or cobbler with. Thank you!

Redfeathers - just reading about your bbq made me drool!

It sounds like your friends are in for a feast!

ams- hope you feel better!

It's just DH and I again tonight, so I'll grill some lamb chops to serve drizzled with a balsamic glaze, tiny tuxedoed red potatoes (boiled and the skins crisped in olive oil), and baby sweet peas.

I should have baked some bread, but don't want to aggravate that pinched nerve that is finally relaxing.

Aneesa - these kids nowadays really know food ... I think they all watch The Food Network!

I was often invited to the schools here to talk about a culinary career and do cooking demos, and I always left amazed by their interest and knowledge.

That's funny! That's almost exactly what we're having tonight. It's Hubby's bday and he requested:
Herbed lamb chops with a balsamic reduction
Rice pilaf
Organic peas and julienne carrots.
Wine

Dessert is homemade vanilla bean & tapioca pudding.

ams and happyhen - I hope you both feel better.

I hope the BBQ's were yummy, Redfeathers and menageriemama! Yay for more chickens menageriemama! Good for you!

thechickenchick - I'm glad to hear the sleepover went well and that there was still food leftover afterwards! If I remember correctly, he's just a little bit older than my DS (nearly 14) so I know just how that goes!

Aneesa's Muse - Chicken and taters sounds great! How is your hand doing?

The bbq was great! We all ate too much and there are leftovers (which I love). I purchased a bottle of cheap wine..lol. I know, wine should never be cheap, but I have to say, if you like a sweeter wine, try WILD VINES Blackberry Merlot. Wow..good stuff, the bottle was gone quickly and I plan on buying it again...they have other flavors, but I really like this one.

Tonight we are having meatball marinara sandwiches on sour dough hoagie rolls. Left over potato salad or green salad on the side.

What are you all having?

Well we are having what my Aunt always called Cabin Stew. I have had this recipe for years. I ran across it today and it made me smile! So I gave her a call. We only talk a couple times a year and see each other even less. She only lives an hour away! Its crazy how life gets SO busy isn't it?! She was happy to hear my voice.

Anyway, I am going to put it in the crock pot. I baked an extra loaf of bread yesterday so we will have that with it. DS is starting track this evening so we will be home late.

Backyard Buddies- Yes you remembered right.

He is 14. He is now 4 inches taller than I am and growing more each day! He used to run in track but suffered a TBI in accident almost 2 years ago. He can't participate in track but the Coach has asked him to be a Manager. I think this is a great way to keep him involved in something he likes to do and be with his friends.

Redfeathers- that is good wine! The other cheap sweet wine I like is Mogan David Concord Grape. My DH makes fun of me for drinking "church wine". Hey its $4 a bottle!

Have a great Monday everyone!!
