Hey Grandpa, What's for Supper? Part 2

Raining off and on here. We're having red potatoes with chopped dill, parsley and lemon juice drizzled with melted butter and EVO. Pan grilled pineapple slices drizzled with teriyaki sauce - thin ribeyes pan grilled with teriyaki and pan grilled salmon with teriyaki for the wife... Cold green beans almondine and leftover banana cream pie...

Last night was gyros on homemade pita using the leftover lamb. Leftover strawberry shortcake for dessert (except for me who had it for breakfast!

).

Tonight we had Bleu Burgers ... grilled seasoned beef patties stuffed with bleu cheese and topped with my homemade steak sauce and chipotle mustard, lettuce and tomato on a toasted kaiser (not homemade).

The weather has been nice so I dug out the icecream maker and made custard style vanilla bean icecream.

Such yummy dinners are being had by all! It's great to see all the new chefs jumping in and sharing! Glad to have you all!

ohiofarmgirl - Thanks for the bread link! I'm going to give that a try. I already bake bread but don't always have time. With this recipe, I may be able to pull it off more regularly! During the science fair at my son's school, I was completely disgusted by the mold experiment - 7 weeks and the store bread didn't mold at all.

Ick! Just how good can that be for us???

happyhen - I've watched Jamie Oliver use his outdoor brick oven and he always seems to know what the temp is. I wonder how he's doing that? Some of my favorites that he's done in there have been the meats and the roasted veggies. That should be a nice item come summer when you don't want to heat the house.

Annesa's Muse - No rain down this way. I think it missed us completely which just seems typical lately.

I hope your headache is doing better.

Dinner tonight was grilled burgers (they were really juicy - perfect!) and buttered corn. The weather was beautiful today - sunny and just a slight breeze so it was perfect for grilling!

7 weeks? How do you get it to last that long? I can buy bread Monday afternoon and by the following Monday its already started to mold. I wish I could just keep mine at least two weeks.

Tonight we had whole wheat pasta, homemade spaghetti sauce, a small chicken tender and garlic bread. Mmm I know what Im having tomorrow for lunch.

She put each (white/wheat) of the homemade (no preservative) breads into their own ziplock bags and did the same with each of the store bought (w/preservatives) breads. They were kept at room temp.

It could be the Ziplocks that helped them stay that long but that clearly made no difference with the homemade breads.

The difference was huge. This young lady took first place in the fair.

I boiled thin spaghetti and reheated some leftover marinara that I made and put away a week or so ago. Quick, easy ..and bad head friendly. All this rain is really bittersweet...

Backyard Buddies... I have been trying to pray it down your way. We didn't get as much today, and I think tomorrow is supposed to be less.. but then it's coming back on Tuesday? Who knows, really ..but I hope it gets down far enough for you to benefit.
