We are going to watch the opening of the Olympics and have homemade Chinese food. Learned to cook Chinese in the Chicago area many years ago. We're having homemade egg rolls, shrimp lo mein and pork fried rice.

to cknmom. Our thoughts and prayers are still with you and yours, especially your mom.

Tonight is corn chowder, homemade bread and leftover peach cobbler.

banter, your dinner sounds great and what a wonderful way to kick off the Olympics! I read that the Chinese gov made the area restaurants remove some of their more "exotic" dishes so as not to offend westerners.

I made cheese stuffed shells with meatballs, and salad and garlic bread.

Tomorrow is probably leftovers or frozen pizza. I have to work 10 hours and it is going to be extra busy at work this weekend. Fun fun.:thun

We've been eating from the garden so much lately the family thinks we've become vegetarians (nothing wrong with that!

), so tonight was steak, potatoes Anna, and a tossed green salad with fresh baked French bread.

It's been like late September here this week (and looks like next week too), cool, wet and breezy, so I think tomorrow will be cream of broccoli soup.

Did everyone stop cooking? Tutter? Backyard Buddies? Aneesa's Muse? Ninjapoodles? Red Feathers? Everyone else? So many are missed!

The cream of broccoli soup was postponed for later this week, and was replaced by chili dogs and fries. DD's request, and since she leaves for grad school in a couple weeks.....

I'm heare HappyHen!! I just haven't made any note worthy dinners lately. Tonight was enchilada casserole and spanish rice. I topped it with sour cream, fresh salsa and cilantro.

We are having chili dogs soon too. I bought sausage dogs instead or regular ol hot dogs...

I made some Palak Gosht (a curried spinach and lamb dish) and a quickie version of Veggie Vindaloo with potatoes, orange cauliflower and eggplants (white and striped) ..and steamed brown Jasmine (need to pick up some Basmati this week).

Tonight, stir fried some prawns in a Thai sauce (forget which ..was in a jar) with asparagus, squash, carrots, broccoli, mushrooms and so on ..over steamed brown Jasmine.

...have I mentioned that we are "rice heads" ?

Tomorrow, I will probably make some lamb in a black pepper sauce with sticky rice (minus the mirin) and some kind of braised asian greens. Not completely sure, just yet...

Chili dogs and fries sound great!!

I practically DID stop cooking! One night, I made this recipe , with sausage, organic fresh-dug potatoes, and organic cheddar (and a simple roux of flour and organic butter), and it was a HUGE hit, served with organic steamed broccoli.

We've been terribly busy, and have had more takeout than is healthy (or than we can afford, truthfully). But tonight, I took some fresh raw goat's milk from a nearby farm, and made both mozzarella and ricotta. And I have some organic baby spinach, so I'm thinking maybe some sort of spinach manicotti tomorrow? I may even use some of the tomato sauce that I put up a couple weeks ago.

Anyone have any other ideas for my fresh ricotta and mozz? I also have a bunch of fresh local pattypan squash I need to use.

ninjapoodles.. is your Ricotta recipe online somewhere? I'd love to have it!

Oh.. and you could use some of it in a PattyPan au'gratin type dish ..or veggie lasagna ...stuffed shells ...in a fancy cobbler with whatever fresh fruits you have available (it would be a little "wetter" than the one I make with cream cheese, but similar). I love good Ricotta!

I think I'm going to go ahead and make the Pepper Sauce Lamb for us tonight ..and just leave out the asian twist on the original recipe. I picked up some fresh red potatoes and I have several colors of 'sweet' peppers ...some green beans ...some Crimini mushrooms. A yummy and colorful supper!

Tonight we're having homemade Chinese. Fried rice, egg rolls, sweet and sour chicken. We won't be having anything if I don't get away from this computer and get cooking.

We live on an island so I had to learn how to make Chinese to satisfy my cravings for the stuff. I love to make stuffed mushrooms but we won't be having any tonight as I didn't buy the stuff to make them.
