Wow ninjapoodles, that boule looks fantastic! I've worked with bigas and poolishes, but this technique is new to me. It's got to be as flavorful as it is easy. Definately need to try that. Thanks.

I'm feelling like Thai tonight, especially after tending the (neglected) herb garden yesterday and pinching back basil. So it's Kai Pad Bai Kaprow (ground chicken stir fried with basil), with Jasmine rice and a cucumber salad.

BTW, you all can send some of that heat our way. We haven't hit 80 in over a week, about 10 degrees cooler than average!

Well, I opened up July's "Southern Living," and there is a recipe I'd missed, for corn-cakes, that I can practically make from stuff I already made!

It has fresh corn (I froze some last month), eggs, mozzarella (bingo!), chives (in my garden), milk (just got fresh goat's milk from local farm), butter, flour, & cornmeal. Yep, I think that's dinner tonight.

No clue what to go with it, though. Anyone?

Thai venison with pea pods, whatever else I pluck from the garden and jasmine rice. The kidds are bugging me for some brownies, and we got some fresh churned vanilla ice cream from the local dairy yesterday.

The other day we had grilled, beer-steamed brats, grilled bell peppers and onions with olive oil, salt and pepper. Everything was awesome. Today we are having home made (of course) egg salad sandwiches and chips.

I need some inspiration or something ...I'm just not enjoying my cooking anymore ..or not as much... ??

I went to the fair and had a funnel cake, a corn dog and some kind of yucky lemonaid that cost $4.00 for a cup! sheesh. Everything was so expensive there, Each ride was $4.00. At least the livestock were free to see...that's the best part anyway.

Oh, Tonight we are having Homemade potato salad and cold cut sandwhiches.

Tonight we had spaghetti aglio-olio, garden tomatoes with fresh (but not homemade

) mozzarella and basil drizzled with a little aged balsamic and crusty Italian rolls I've been wanting to try my hand at.

I need to start making cheese again...sigh. Maybe when the garden slows down a little.

Tonight was chicken salad using the leftovers from my roasted Cornish X and 'tater salad from the local IGA.

A bottle of white wine and for dessert blueberry sour cream cake with berries I picked myself.
