A bag of chips, shredded cheese, crockpot beans, ground venison with a "taco seasoning" ..some sour cream and chopped avocado ..little salsa ...lettuce and tomato, if you want to be really festive ...Voila! Everyone in the family is happy ..and possibly musical later, too

Thank you for a great idea! It would be fast too.

DHs Uncle is in town from OK so there is a big prime rib dinner in town. Maybe the next night we will have Nachos, because I will be craving them until I make them!

After writing about them, I was craving them... so I made a mini version ..some salsa, some beans, shredded colby and a little taco seasoning ...nuked long enough to heat and melt... and DIP!!

Then I made a real dinner for DH.. blackened chicken breast sauteed in fresh tomato with onion, garlic and peppers ...fettucine with a "what's in the fridge" cheese sauce (heavy cream, milk, mozzarella, asiago) ...and green beans sauteed in a little bacon grease with fresh mushrooms and thinly sliced onion.

All this nacho talk is making me hungry! (BTW, how do we petition for "yummy" and "drooling" smilies?

The pork roast I made last night was soooooo good! I used several recipes and combined them, so I'd better write them down before I forget what I did!

Tonight is breakfast for dinner here. I think I'm going to make French toast.

DH won't be home until after 9. So it is just DS and myself. So we are having what I call This and That casserole. A little of this and a little of that. Tonights version...Layered, Sliced potatoes on the bottom, mozz cheese, burger with spices, baked beans, topped with cheddar cheese. Crusty homemade biscuits.

I went a little pizza dough happy last night, so we still have one pie left ...and I'm adding some stripped chicken breast, grilled and slathered with bbq sauce ..some potato salad and some kind of greens ...probably collards since I seem to have more of those in back ...and a little dish of baked beans (cuz I still have some of those crockpot beans

DH is doing something at the University today ..instead of work.... so I better get on it!

Wow! You all are making some mighty nice sounding comfort food!

Hubby is working late, so we're eating leftover cornbread and canned chili. I spent my day dealing with car issues, so I'm not in the mood to be creative.

that's sounds yummy too! Can I have your recipe for crusty biscuits?
I love crusty bread

You bet Purr! Here it is...

2 1/4 sifted flour
4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp salt
2 tbsp sugar
1/3 cup shortening ( I use marg)
2/3 cup milk
1 egg

Sift together dry ingredients. Cut in marg/shortening. Add milk and egg. Mix with fork. Knead 5 times. You can roll out and cut, but I have found they come out crustier if I just tear off same size hunks and bake that way. 450 for 12 minutes. They are great for breakfast with honey. My teenage son bakes them for me for breakfast once in a while. Its a real treat.

I made a huge pot of beef-vegetable-barley soup, farm-style white bread and a bread pudding tonight.

We've been experiencing lake effect snows, highs in the mid 20's and wind gusts up to 40 mph most of the week. Brrrr!
