Hey Grandpa, What's For Supper?

Blue cheese burgers, broccoli salad, sweet potatoe fries and pound cake with strawberries and whipped cream. I don't have to work today, so I can spend my time cooking (and cleaning the horse pasture, and working in the garden, and doing laundry, and . . . .)!

I'm cooking some B-B-Q Baby Back Ribs tonight.
Serving it with coleslaw, potato salad, and corn on the cob. I came across some green beans like we like them....will boil them tender w/ butter and some left-over breakfast ham.
I decided to make cornbread muffins w/ jalepeno's, and all served with sweet tea.
Dessert....well, I haven't decided. Don't want to get the house hot, but we always want to nibble on something sweet afterwards...may make no-bake cookies.

Today is rainy and cool here in MA. I am making a big pan of homemade spaghetti sauce and will freeze some leftover for another time. I cooked a big pork shoulder roast on Sunday and have alot leftover. I think I am going to fry it up in a pan and add a can of red beans to it. I love to be home on rainy days cooking!

I just took cakes out of the oven for dessert. Choc. cakes with choc. pudding filling and mocha choc. frosting! I am boiling a lamb bone to get the meat off for my stew. I am getting ready to make tortillas, snickerdoodles, peanut butter balls.
I decided to make baked cornmeal dumplings to go with the stew. Finished making ricebags for Mother's Day.

I'm having:

Baked chicken, homemade potatoes au gratin, fresh asparagus, buttered baby carrots, and homemade pickled beets.

Dessert is going to be fresh apple cobbler (We are still using apples off our trees.) with vanilla ice cream, that dh made. (Having the family all home, so it's kind of like Sunday dinner on Thursday.)

Yogi, thank you, those greens sound delicious!

Mom's Folly, that salmon glaze has got to be good!

I make cous cous as follows sometimes: Heat broth, adding salt, small broccoli florets, and just a little yellow curry, not red. (Schilling.) When the florets are cooked as you like, add cous cous and finish.

Also, how do you make your bread pudding? My grandmother used to make one with leftover buttered biscuits, instead of sliced bread, and it was heavenly! Enjoy yours.

Lizardz, it doesn't sound like you ended up with a day of leisure, but dinner sure does sound good!

Parson's Wife, barbequed ribs are one of my top 5 favorite foods, and I am pretty fond of the rest of your meal, too. In fact, it's mostly what we're having for Mother's Day!

What type of no-bake cookie do you make? I have a recipe of my grandmothers which has in it: peanut butter, chocolate, and oats. We used to beg her to make them, and loved to help. But mostly we just wanted to eat them!

Rice bags :You can put them in the freezer for cold packs or in the microwave for heat packs or to warm the end of the bed for your feet in the winter.

Sew three sides of muslin (dimensions depend on what you will use it for). Sew channels from sewn end to open end. Fill each channel 1/2-3/4 way with rice. Sew closed. I made covers for them so the ricebags wouldn't get dirty, just wash the covers.
I will post a pic.

I made my Mom special glove shaped, kinda ones because she has terrible OA and RA, she cannot take her good meds that actually help as she is going through radiation treatments right now. With the ones I made her she can either set her hands on them, put them on top, or sandwich her hands between the two.

OMG, I do this, but I don't make anything special, just throw some rice in a tube sock and tie closed or use a rubber band. Stick in micro, and instant hot pad!!! I will make some like this though, sounds much better looking!!! I could even make some covers with my wolf material!!! Thanks!!! Steph
