Just don't use instant, but otherwise any will do. In some I used jasmin others I used basmati.

The stew was GREAT! It will be one of the recipes I use every year for our leftover Easter lamb.
The dumplings were the best ever. I will be using that recipe lots!

Baked Cornmeal Dumplings
2/3C.flour
2/3C.cornmeal
3T.parmesan cheese
2t.baking powder
1T.minced fresh parsley or 1t. dried flakes
1/4t. salt
1/2C. milk
1/4C.oil
1qt. chicken broth

In bowl mix first six ingr. Mix milk and oil; stir into dry ingredients. Bring broth to a boil; pour into a 2 1/2qt.round baking dish. Drop batter in six mounds onto the broth. Cover and bake at 400* for 20 min.

This was so quick and easy. Next time though I will double it.

Tonight is just hot dogs and mac-n-cheese. I'll probably b-b-q the dogs.

I make these, too. I sometimes mix lavendar in with the rice - smells nice when you warm them. I use really soft flannel to cover mine, and have made a small, heart shaped one that you use over your eyes. I made a bunch of these for my son's school to sell at a Christmas Fair a few years back and they were a big hit.

Dinner tonight - Panda Express!

I didn't put any scent in them as some of my family are allergic to many scents, better to be safe.

Here are pics of the bags with the covers and without. I covered mine in a soft gray material(can't remember what it is). I thought that all the other moms would prefer pretty prints. It also gave me a good way to use up some leftover fabrics.

Trying (for the first time)...homemade salisbury steak. At the rate I'm going, looks more like it's going to be closer to sausage and gravy! Smells good, though. And, of course, real mashed potatoes (those I'm good at) and corn!

OH, also, good to know you can use rice for those bags. You can also use corn or dry beans. My son bought me a corn one for my birthday at the pumpkin show last year; I swear I wore that thing out; EVERY night I used it on whatever hurt, as I was reading before bed...finally burned a hole in it trying to get it too hot...and then, eventually, it started to fall apart...they are wonderful.

Tonight are quesadillas, and I'm late....I was posting recipes, instead of making them!

Also, I want to eat fast because my planting potatoes got here today from Ronnigers, and I want to run my hands through them!

They will, hopefully, be future meals!

You can also use hazelnut shells, and add herbs. I am SO allergic to perfumes, but not to flowers, so far (knocks on wood). I have like 5 of those and the whole family uses them! You can add mint, chamomile, lavender, oh just all kinds of stuff. Mint is great for stuffy noses! Put it in the microwave then inhale deeply. Eucalyptus is good for that too. Herb mix is great for aches and pains. DH swears by them, and he never used to believe in any of the holistic stuff!

Hmm...what did we have tonight?

Round steak, simmered down in a cast iron Dutch oven with a thick gravy, mashed potatoes with that gravy, and I cooked down some cabbage I had in the fridge that I didn't want to go to waste.

And a "drumstick" for dessert! (You know, those Nutty Buddy ice cream thingys?)

I'm about as full as a tick right now!!!

Tonight is Chinese fried rice, though, more correctly, maybe Chinese chicken fried rice, since there's chicken in it.

In the great tradition of barbeques through time, I'm spending part of the day working on the side dishes for tomorrow's barbeque.

I think I'm going to make chocolate chip cookies for tomorrow's dinner, too. But I know I'll have to "test" them. After all, I wouldn't want to feed my family anything I wasn't *absolutely* sure was perfect.

For Mothers' Day we're having Smoked (all night) pork butt, potato salad, baked beans, mac n cheese, coleslaw, fruit plate, and for dessert peanut butter pie.

I 3 brothers and 1 sister and we are all getting together with my Mom at my house this year. Everyone is bring a dish, so my Mom won't try to feed us all.
