Hey Grandpa, What's For Supper?

Mother's Day barbeque will be:

Barbequed chicken pieces, and

Thin meat strips threaded onto bamboo skewers. I make a honey-mustard glaze for the latter, and a regular homemade barbeque sauce for the former.

The potato salad was exchanged for potatoes au gratin, after a bit of a disruption here yesterday.

Coleslaw

Corn on the cob on the grill

Whole onions on the grill in foil

Skewers with red and green bell peppers and fresh pineapple, cubed

We will probably grill potato wedges, as well, since the coals will take a while to cool. I can use them in a meal tomorrow.

I made chocolate chip cookies, and have lemon sorbet. Well, there's also chocolate ice cream.

I'm not cooking anything..

I gotta work today! All the mothers were supposed to have today off, but some gal just up and quit, leaving us in a bind, sooooo I'm lunch relief today.

When I get off, I'm headed to Mom's to visit and wind down...sure hope she didn't go crazy trying to cook today.

I got these beautiful T-Bones at the butcher for today; of course, my DH was gonna grill em for us; rained all morning and was cold; finally let up this afternoon; as soon as I went out to start the grill, it started raining again

LOL,,,I am having pizza! It was beautiful outside today and I cleaned the coops, cut the lawn and all that. My daughter worked all day and is going to bring pizza home for supper. It does not take to much to please me....lol

We had bbq ribs, bbq chicken, chicken patties, peel and eat shrimp, baked beans, cole slaw, macaroni salad, potato salad, mashed potatoes, veggies and dip, rolls, corn muffins, assorted fruit, relish tray, assorted chips and dips, assorted crackers, donuts, cake, eclairs!

My Mom and my sister think we always need more food, they just can't stop! When I give a party, my Mom tells me; just have a lot of a few dishes. They don't listen to their own advice.

When DH and I got married, we had a nice short menu of the things we liked best and were planning an lots of it. Mom and my sister went and brought a whole bunch of other food that I had told them we didn't need; You can't have a bbq without... I had food coming out of my ears for three months DH and I were eating wedding food, no one would take any!

Yesterday I couldn't barley move I was ssoo full!

Hi ya'll,
I had yesterday off. The menfolk at the church cooked, the ladies breakfast: Pancakes, waffles, bacon, & sausage, OJ, & coffee...it was really good!
Lunch- I was treated to a lovely meal, I did not prepare or clean up!
Supper- we had sandwiches in the fellowship hall and played Boggle. (I won one of the games, my husband won the first one)

He seemed to get the big head!

Supper tonight: Mexican frito salad, scalloped potatoes, corn on the cob. Dessert is cake. I'm practicing a new recipe and design, for the rehearsel dinner cake.

Hope everyone had a good Mother's Day. I did, so thankful.

TT, I almost had lasagna; I love it!

Parsonswife, we play Boggle. I can't get people to play as often as I'd like, but we do as often as I can wrangle them into it!

Homemade chicken and dumplings here tonight.

None of that "premade" mess, either. Ick. These dumplings are the roll 'em out, get flour on everything dumplings! YUM! The downside to this situation is that I'm gonna be cleaning for the rest of the night. ANY HINTS??? I've tried the waxed paper thing, that doesn't work out, it slides all over, what else could I possibly do to make clean up easier?

Oh yeah, it isn't complete without Tabasco! Of course, we put that on everything, from eggs to hashbrowns down here.

Well, Amy, that is quite simple for me. I use freezer wrap paper for all of these tasks. I seldom if ever use freezer wrap for the freezer. I use it to roll dumplings, biscuits, for seasoning large cuts of meat and ribs, etc. It makes clean up a snap in that when finished, simply roll it up and to the garbage can we go. No fuss, no muss.
