Lesseeeee. . . .

A bite of a hotdog.
Half of a Cajun sausage dog with jalapenos.
Some garlic fries.
A hefeweizen.
A spoonful of a chocolate malt.
3 licks of soft serve vanilla ice-cream.
Half a bag of Cracker Jacks.

Odd dinner? Naw, it was perfect for a Dodger's game!

Busy day today. I have to take the dog we just adopted to the vet in the next town, so crockpot sloppy joes with fresh baked bread is my plan. I will use the timer setting on my bread machine. Should all be hot and ready when we finally get home!

We had homemade lasagna (the "World's Best Lasagna" recipe from allrecipes.com, which I highly recommend as I have made it four or five times now). For dessert, we had Rice Krispie treats.

Later this week, I am making white chicken chili with Rachel Ray's recipe from her magazine.

Chinese take-out,,hehe ( gotta cheat ONCE in a while

I've been craving Chinese for a week, mainly Hot and Sour Soup garnished with hot chili oil. Maybe it will break up this sinus infection!

Leftover pot roast for us with a pear upside-down cake.

Redfeathers, I'd be happy to share!

Nectarines, peaches, apples, pitted cherries and of course, pineapple can be used for this.

4 TBSP butter
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1/4 tsp grated nutmeg or cinnamon
2 large pears (any variety), peeled, cored and thinly sliced, about 2 cups
1 1/3 cup flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 3/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
3 TBSP butter, softened
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg

Pre-heat oven to 375.

Melt the butter in an 8 inch pan (I prefer round). Add brown sugar and nutmeg and blend well. Remove pan from heat and arrange the pear slices, slices overlapping, on the brown sugar mix.

Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a mixing bowl. Stir in the softened butter, milk, egg and vanilla until just moistened.

Beat for 2 minutes with an electric mixer at medium speed. Pour batter over pears.

Bake for 35 minutes. Cool in pan 5 minutes, then invert it onto a serving plate. Let it stand 1 minute before removing the pan.

We like it best still slightly warm.

Well, we have eaten good all day. I carried a pot of Collards and ham to Church with me this morning. I had already cooked them on Sat. If you know anything about collards, they just get better with time. When we took a lunch break I made some cornbread in the oven and had some sweet potatoe patties, Iced tea.
Tonite I made Chicken breast in Wine sauce and garlic served with rice and garden peas and I whipped up some homemade yeast rolls. All very satisfying.

Hey Dorothy mres are not bad if in a pinch. Some are not so bad. But they are loaded with salt. Not so good for high blood pressure. But they are good for on the go and no electric. We have generator but ran it only at night so we had no fresh food in ice box or freezer.
