BYB, That sounds yummy! I havn't done that in a very long time. That will be on my next shopping list. We are having homemade potato soup and homemade wheat rolls. Last night was tuna casserole and toast from homemade bread.

Better yet, buy two packs next time they're on sale and keep one frozen for another variation.
Carnitas -
Pork Butt or Country Style Ribs
2 T garlic powder
1 7 oz. can of Salsa Verde (I use Embasa brand)

Put Pork in crockpot
Sprinkle with garlic powder
Sprinkle with Salsa Verde
Cook all day on high.
Shred

(if you want, you can take it out of the crockpot and stick it under the broiler for a bit to crisp it up)

Serve with tortillas, diced onion, and cilantro and/or any other accompaniments you like.

Wonderful!! Thanks for the info! I will let you know when I try it out!

Hubby was not home for dinner tonight so i went "veggie'. I had a beautiful baked organic sweet potato and some steamed brussel sprouts that were about 5 minutes off the plant when I tossed them in the steamer! A little butter and a sprinkle of brown sugar on the tater and YUMMY!!!

Lucky you! My son has loved brussel sprouts his whole life. He would ask for them when he was 3 years old! Hubby hated them when we married. I told him it was because he had only eaten the frozen ones and they are mushy. So I bought him fresh ones from our local grocery store. I am sure they had to travel a long distance to Montana. But they were as fresh as I could get them. He loved them! I can't imagine how good they would taste straight from the garden. Yum!!

I like brussels too. My mom always prepared them with vinegar and black pepper. I was told by several people that that is a very weird way to eat them...but I like it. I like them with cheese over them as well.

Well I have my porcupine meatballs in the oven. They smell wonderful.

DH and I are the only ones who like brussels, so we don't have them too often. The kids used to "tolerate" them when I would steam them to just tender and then saute them in olive oil with salt and pepper.

Leave it to a chef to take a healthy veg and make it as unhealthy as possible.

Home made Chicken Pot Pie and carmel apples for desert. Maybe sushi tomorrow..... but we still have bacon and fruit for pancakes.....and our daughter will be off to college, which means one thing..... more for me

I've also loved brussel sprouts since I was little. And canned spinich, which makes my mom super proud! I've gotten both of my girls to love it, if I have to get the frozen ones, I thaw them out, slice them in half, rinse and boil the tar outta 'em. Soak in some butter, makes it all yum for us.
