Hey Grandpa, What's For Supper?

Tonight was a Nepalese potato and pea curry with chicken thighs I cubed, skewered, seasoned and grilled.

My BIL spent time in the Peace Corps, and sent me tons of recipes from the areas he stayed or visited (mostly Asia, Africa and Europe).
 
A migraine has had me out of commission for the better part of 2 weeks, so I haven't been cooking much ..and when I have... it's not been worth mentioning

Last night, I whipped up some Soy Chorizo soft tacos ..corn and black beans on the side.

Tonight, I think I will stuff a fresh Trout with some crustaceans and such ..make a special pilaf ..and steam a veggie or two.

I hope everyone with those dreaded cooties are recovering, or have recovered, and can remain healthy from here out.

Remember to drink lots of water ..and wash hands often

I have a crock pot full of Paula Dean's Shaggy man pea soup. I've never made pea soup before I hope its good. I have to make a bread to go with it , I'm thinking sour dough rolls. what does everyone else have with pea soup?
 
Aneesa - So sorry about your migraine. By the sounds of your cooking plans, it sounds as if you're doing better. Sure hope so! Mmmm chorizo!

Purr - I'm always a sucker for sour dough or French bread and I think either would be good with your pea soup. Corn bread is another option.

Tonight I'm making angel hair pasta with crab and asparagus, salad, and French bread.
 
I've made, am waiting on the Rev. to come home. I made us a big pot of pinto beans, cornbread, mashed tators (not fried, trying to cut back), corn on the cob, greens, chicken fried steak, gravy, and sweet tea.
Dessert is my favorite...pumpkin pie. I'm trying out my new crust savers....I picked them up a yardsale...didn't even know they had the things...my aluminum foil usually comes loose around the edges...but these little things worked perfect!

Aneesa - glad your migraine left. You're absence was noticed and you were missed, as well as your yummy meals!

BYB - my family loves steamed asparagus topped with eggs fried over- easy in olive oil and then sprinkled with fresh Parmesan cheese. Weird, but good! It's the only way I could get the kids to eat asparagus when they were little.

I spent the morning wrapping the coop and run in 6ml plastic sheets. It got very cold and windy today with a light drizzle that ocassionally carried the hint of a snowflake. DH was not happy with me, since I'm still on antibiotics for pneumonia, but he'll get over it and I am feeling better.

But to warm us up tonight, I put on a big pot of beef, barley and mushroom soup and baked a loaf of French bread. Baked apples with soft whipped cream for dessert.
 
well DH brought home Portuguese rolls from the Portuguese bakery so we had that with the pea soup, it came out sooo good. Love that Paula Dean.
DD stayed for supper and made a apple pie and a squash pie for desert, there goes my sugar. I wasn't too bad I had a tiny piece of apple
 
I made a roux and added some mushrooms and then broth and chicken. Let it simmer and served over rice. Had grren beans on the side. After a long day at work I don't fix many sides plus I know no matter what DH eats for dinner he will snack and snack and snack. SO I feed him a light meal.
 
Meatloaf made with beef from my nephew's show steer and pork from my son's show pig. I have not ever made it with beef AND pork, but alot of the recipes I have seen calls for both. I hope it turns out ok.
Green beans and mash potatoes. Nothing fancy just a meat and potato kinda night.

I have really enjoyed reading what everyone is having, but I'm going to have to step it up a notch and try out some of these yummy things on my family.
 
our butchers here sell "meatloaf mix". It's equal parts beef, veal and pork. It makes THE BEST meatloaf.

OH I am o glad to hear that!! DH and DS had football practice tonight so we are going to try it out when they get home. I will let you know how they like it.

I have never cooked with ground pork before so I really don't know what to do with it. Any ideas?​
