LOL! Bring out the .22 (or shotgun if your a bad aim:plbb) and get 'em! The squirrels can last just about all day in the cooler before bein dressed, but dress the rabbits immediatly or flies and other stuff will more likely than not lay eggs on 'em.

Labor day breakfast we had french toast with allspice and cinnamon in the batter, topped with cream cheese and cool whip mixed together, blueberries and bananas, blueberry syrup (yum!) also bacon, juice, and coffee.

We had pork chops with mushroom gravy and a little stove top stuffing last night. I was a litle lazy! Tonite is open house at school so we will grab a bite in town. Tomorrow though I had better come up with something good. I still need to try the peanut butter dessert.

BLT sandwiches with pre-cooked bacon on spongey white bread chock full of preservatives and high fructose corn syrup, potato chips, and kosher dills (Vlassic). They had to make it themselves!

Yesterday was a very rough day, and the humans and animals that share my life fried my last nerve by about 7 pm.

So I took today off!

Uglycowboy- Are these ground squirrles or tree squirrles you are talking about? Unfortunately we only have ground squirrles. Both DH and I have heard that they do not taste very good, are tough and there is not enough meat to make it worth it. Is this true? We do have a few FAT ones running around from eating the scratch and chicken treats.
DH got 6 for 8 over the weekend, we think it was actually 7 for eight but we couldn't confirm one.

What about cotton tails vs. jacks? Our jacks are as big as dogs! We are overrun with rabbits and squirrles.

Tonight is a mexican casserole, we also have open house at school, I wish we could stop for pizza in town.

Hamburger, mixed veggies, tomatoes, onions, cheddar. Monica

Well, I eat grey and fox (tree) squirrels, which I like. To tell the truth, I aint never ate a ground squirrel, so I caint tell ya how they taste.

And both Jacks and Cottonstails are good!

And, if ya ever get the chance, try coon and opossum! It really is good, believe it or not! I dont recomend armadillo though, some folks like it but I thought it tasted like the floor of a cattle trailer...

Today was DD's first day back at school and it was her turn to select the dinner for the evening. She chose:

shrimp scampi over angel hair pasta
sweet buttered peas
rosemary French bread

It was yummy! We still have brownies leftover from last night. . . . that is, if anyone is still hungry after that delicious dinner!

I may have missed it in the posts somewhere....are you a caterer?
I can imagine!
When just my parents, brothers and sisters and their families get together, we now number 46...and we cook and cook and cook, and even with plastic plates...lots of clean-up!

I had a wonderful holiday, hope ya'll did...baked my steaks tender tonight...fork tender....spiced & seasoned to perfection...served with childrens favorite sides...hubby asked for banana splits for dessert....
I did biscuits for bread...didn't have time for my rolls, which reminds me...I need to put a batch in the frig...

I am just checking in here before I leave to pick up my son at school and then I will drive into town to pick up our CSA box. SO, I guess we are having veggies with a side of veggies and a few more veggies for desert

Really though I am having a huge chili craving, but my mom just brought over a huge chicken mushroom that she and my DD found in the woods this morning. What shall I do? I am having some kind of cook's block...
