Hey I'm choosing which kind of chick to get Edit:(narrowed down to 4!)

Thanks You again guys!!

Well i have only 4 choices left and they are the following:
Silver Laced Wyandotte (docile)
Speckled Sussex (docile)
Red Star (docile)
Rocks (docile)

I have to have a docile bird or so i have been informed by my mother so these are what's left!

All of these are good layers very beautiful (especially the SLW!) The Rocks I would prob. end up getting either a Plymouth or a Barred if those are the ones I get! So which one of these have you all had the best luck with!??? Which do you prefer! Help me make my decision!!! Wow i feel like an advertisement!!!

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. The white isn't a problem to keep clean. The roo in my avatar has never been bathed and I think he looks good. Since Dellies are the only breed I raise I might be a little biased.

A good bird for your needs has not been mentioned much, The Plymouth Rock or Barred Rock, they are very good looking birds, great layers of large eggs in hot or cold weather. you can find them with ease, they are also very friendly with great personality. also the Buff Orphington has the same great qualities, give these birds a real good look it will be worth your time to do so.

My SLWs haven't started laying yet, but they are some of the friendliest birds I have. I have one who always wants to be petted and held. I haven't noticed any unusual friction between them and the other chickens.

As far as looks, with the ones you have listed, I agree that IMO, the Speckled Suxxes is the prettiest.

But as another reader stated, the Buff Orpington is a fantastic docile bird, too. I currently have some babies I got Saturday ranging in age from a few days to 2+ weeks. They are great! They love for us to hold them.

Just what you needed...someone throwing in a monkey wrench!

I would say out of your 4 I would get the Speckled Suxxes. My son had one and she was the sweetest thing. She always sounded like she was singing. She always wanted ro be held.
