They look fantastic. Just keep getting better and better. One question, my one cockerel has good MF coloring, but he has vulture hocks. My other one looks like a better cochin, but he has no white yet. Should I avoid breeding either one of them? Someone in another post told me that the vulture hocks might disappear in time.

Edited to say, here is the other thread with a picture: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=2629785#p2629785

Could these possibly be mf cochins? Or are they something else? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Ok, we had our chicky photo shoot today... wish it wasn't overcast ...maybe I would have better shots. I really envy all of you with cameras that aren't so picky about the lighting.

Here is a pic of two d'uccles.. the one on the right is mille fleur..

Im super excited about the darker buff ones and the liver ones with the red in the face... I cannot wait to see how they mature. I really think culling out the ones with the wheaten downs is getting us away from that silver gene and more toward the gold gene... and I believe that will improve the black striping in the feathering... Krys?

Very Pretty! I hope your move down south goes smoothly, your birds are so lovely. Tina/tfpets

It would be too early to tell whether your chicks are mille fleur. Did you buy the eggs as Mille fleur eggs? Or if you have been making your own.....you'll need to wait & see.

MsBear.

Nice looking chicks.

I am a bit confused. Silver can be on any e-allele, not only wheaten.

Are these your F3s? Are their parents the birds on your homepage?

Anyone know the answer to my question about vulture hocks?

These are F3's from my F2's. I have a gorgeous red roo and a nice looking pullet with a gold background. I also have a buff columbian mille cross that I kept. Her markings are looking nice though she has very little white.. and her type is fantastic.

I really need to get to work on this down color analogy thing. The blonde males seem to feather out nicely. Hillary, Lynnes roo, is amazing and he was a wheaten baby... but, the females seem to be lacking the black striping and I thought this had something to do with the silver gene as it seems sex-linked. ..I dunno , the more I think about it, the more my head hurts.

I just know that mille d'uccle chicks on feathersite hatch with that darker, liver color with reddish in the face.

I have some F3's from Lynne feathering out right now and the chipmunk chick I had such high hopes for does not have the right background color.. too dark and brown. The rest were blondes and they have patches of red but the background colors seem too light... where as the one roo I have looks like he will be another looker. ... he was also wheaten downed.

As for the vulture hocks, I believe they will diminish more as a bird matures. I have an issue with them in my columbians to some extent. I don't think they are as bad as the ones in the pic but selective breeding will help tremendously. My roo has them and most of his daughters don't and, with his sons', they vary. Im swapping him out with the best cockerel this year... so we'll see what happens next year.

Yeah, I have one black in the back there and Im thinking that will be the case. I have another two darker ones in the front that makes me curious but Im really hoping on the two reddish buffs and the liver on the left.

Here's the pair I have... the buff columbian cross was broody so I didn't get her.

I understand my roo needs some help in the type dept but Im loving his color.

ETA: I updated my post with the chicky shoot to show pics of a mille fleur d'uccle chick. The coloring of that chick is very similar to the coloring of a couple of my chicks... hence my excitement

I guess only time will tell.
