no... I'm talking about Lynne and tate, the same tate that has been working on these gorgeous birds for a Loooong time... Just about everyone on BYC that has mille fleur cochins can thank tate, whether they know it or not.

Nope. My birds came from Mike, and Mike got them from another breeder whose name I can't think of right now. Tate's birds are a mix of wheaten and other E alleles, while mine are all wheaten based.

That is, all the birds I'm **breeding** are wheaten based. I also purchased eggs from both Lynne and Tate this summer, but I don't plan to do any breeding with them.

Incidentally, I think I'm getting set to make my final breeding selections in the next few weeks. If anyone's interested, I'll have both pullets and cockerels available once I've made my final choices. Stay tuned for new pics.

I can't speak for Mike but I do know of another breeder that has been breeding them for over 7-8 years that Mike got birds from awhile back.

So noone knows who's selling the pair on eggbid?

Just to set the record straight....I never bought eggs from anyone. I started my project with 2 Buff Columbian hens from Tom Roebuck & a MFC Roo I had shipped to me 3 years ago. The person I bought Cassanova from has never heard of Tate.

I also will be making my breeding pairs up in the next month. I will have pullets & cockerels available. If anyone would like pics, please don't hesitate to PM me. Thanks!

Tate,

You are absolutely right!!! I did order eggs from you "after" I had purchased my MFC roo because (like most of us) was impatient to wait for the Buff Columbians to start laying.

Unfortunately, however, I had NO eggs hatch from my purchase from you.

I purchased from you late Jan 08. My Buff Columbians started laying early Feb. 08 so I didn't attempt to order hatching eggs again. All my chicks came from the same cross. Nothing has been introduced from the outside.

I hesitate to think that there might be a battle going on as to "who has what from where"? The bottom line here is to create the best MFC we can ...not "who" gets there first. I'm just pleased to have met so many people who are as devoted as I am to this color. I so enjoy seeing everyone's progress & the hints & tips I have gleaned from this thread are invaluable.
