Now that I re-evaluate, 8-10 pullets may be to young and I feel I'd have to separate from my 1 1/2 yr old gals until they are a bit bigger. I don't feel I have adequate space for them.

Actually, the two pullets are currently being kept with year old chickens, so I don't think you would have to separate them.

Thank you, just to be on the safe side , I'd rather get one older more mature hen. My RIR is bossy and might fare better with an equally sized or bigger gal.
