HHD incubator help

Hi I have a HHD 52 incubator (holds 48). had it running with the temp set at 38.3 so my digital thermometer would read 37.5. Then after about 5 days the temp on my thermometer increased to high 38ish but the incubator stayed where I had it set. Any idea why the thermometer would be reading so much higher all of a sudden? I tested this thermometer against a medical grade digital and glass medical thermometer.

What type of digital thermometer? If it's made for room temperature, they aren't meant to be highly accurate and the fluctuated reading may have been exaggerated. If you have your incubator near a window, air vent, door, etc, that can cause fluctuations though, especially if you don't have it in the styrofoam.

It is made for reptile tanks and incubators. And I keep the incubator in the basement with no drafts or windows. I also keep towels around it in place of the styrofoam

I saw your post on the hhd Chinese incubator. Nowadays there are new models, do you think it’s a good idea to buy one?

Thank you! They have been in for almost 48 hrs. I have been watching and it seems to have stabilized with a few minor adjustments! I'm not so worried anymore! Thanks for taking the time to post! I will be following all the forums and cannot wait to successfully hatch some chicks!

I also have a 48 egg HDD incubator and I just cannot seem to get it tO maintain adequate temperatures throughout the cycle. I have set probably 30+ eggs and have only had 3 live hatches . This last batch of seven eggs resulted in 3 late deaths in shell because of this lack of a stable temp. Can you please help ?

Hello, I'm Tony from HHD.
The incubator will need water all the time when hatching, usually water add each 2days. and in Day 18 hatcher period. will need high humidity(65~79%) for chicks break up, better make sure all two water channel are full of water to keep the humidity.
Most HHD mini incubator with water bottle for water add from outside.
Enjoy hatching!!
What setting should the CAU be on, I cannot get my HHD incubator to reach 37.5 ?

An advice on humidity issue is required for the HHD 56 Egg Incubator YZ-56A (Clear Top):

The humidity is showing around 25% and when the lid is opened, it increases to around 30% and more and then goes back to 25% after closing the lid. I have filled up both the water channels with no improvement in the humidity reading.

Also, the humidity display is blinking and not stationary like the temperature reading.

How can I increase the humidity for hatching period?

I have acquired 5 of the HHD and one generic model. Most of them were made by the Janoel Company with identical controls. I'm referring to the slanted back control panel type. You can program AL;AH;AS;CA;HS; and LS. Since it uses a seven segment display a 5 represents an S in all cases.
AL is Alarm low point. When the temp drops below the set point this much it will alarm by beeping and blinking. I set mine at 1.0 Deg C.
AH is Alarm high point. When the temp gets above the set point this much it will alarm. I set mine to 1.0 Deg C.
So now my unit will alarm if below 36.8 or above 38.8 because my temp setting is 37.8.
AS is the alarm for the Humidity. It will go into alarm when the humidity gets below the number you set here. I set mine all the way down to 1 because I hate alarms. This incubator does not control the humidity. It only shows you the value.
One note on controlling the humidity. As mentioned in several posts it is the area that the water is spread out that determines the humidity not how deep the water is. The water in any channel should never be so high that a chick would drown by putting it's beak thru the grid if the egg tray is removed and you are hatching in the unit. A 1/8 inch deep water area spread out everywhere on the bottom will result in a much higher humidity value than one channel filled completely full.
CA is how you calibrate the temperature. For example, if the heat led turns off at 37.8 but you measure 36 inside with an accurate thermometer then you would enter a -1.8 in the CA value. It allows you the keep the 37.8 set point and compensates for the unit's temperature error.
HS is the highest temperature anyone can accidently set.
LS is the lowest temperature anyone can accidently set.

Let's say you enter 36.5 for LS and 38.5 for the HS. Now when you press the set button one time to set the operating temperature you will only be able to enter a setting between 36.5 and 38.5. Try it to prove I'm right.

Remember that the operating temperature (37.8)(100 deg) is set by pressing the Set button once briefly and then the + or - to enter your set point. I always press the Set once again to save it but it's supposed to save it automatically after the Set button times out.
If you have any other specific questions just send me a message.

I have just hatched 7 eggs but the humidity has gone above 76 degrees and set off the EE error message and alarm. Do you know of any way either to raise the ceiling above 76 degrees or alternatively disable the alarm?

Does anyone know how to add the water? I have an hhd incubator that holds 112 eggs. I can't for the kids of me figure out how to add water without opening the incubator.

Hi I have the one with the yellow top. I have my temperature set to 39.5 that’s the highest it will go but my temperature on my gauge is only showing around 93-95. How do I get that to go high to reach 99 degree? Any suggestions?
