Hi -just joined, live in Somerset UK, have had 3 chickens for just over a year- all 3 laid brilliantly for a year snd now 2 have stopped or just lay soft shell eggs, for several weeks now. lve tried extra oyster shell, grit and a tonic to no avail. they are cept in a lsrgish run and free range in the garden for a couple of hours each day. ( read that I should cull them -that isn, t going to happen! any suggestions please?

Welcome and hello from the Commonwealth of Virginia, USA.

Unfortunately your question is out of my league, but I am certain that you will receive a reply from a more experienced chicken person soon.

Edit: Oops! there is an answer already.

Hello From Florida.

The Oyster is good but perhaps they are missing something else. Do you feed them layer feed? Perhaps a change in feed will help?
They do change in laying behavior as they age. I had some jelly eggs too.

Wow thanks for the speedy responses and friendly welcomes. Yep I feed them organic layer pellets plus a small "breakfast" and "supper" of scraps/cooked rice etc- will definately get worming medication for them, many many thsnks folks.
