Thank you for th input! We currently consume about a 12-18 pack of eggs every 2 weeks. So I was thinking between 4 bantams we'd get enough, but of course that's perfect scenario calculation. There's always the possibility of getting 1 true layer, I was just hoping for a uniform flock. But thats why I'm here to hear from those who have experience because I wont have the option to get over 4 birds.

Bantams vs LF, sounds like you are limited to 4 where you live. Consider productivity and egg size. Are you interested in variety of colors? If your kids will handle them for 4h, consider size and temperament. Space for coop/run available.... I decided on heritage breeds for my original 4ish chicks ( came home with 5 
, at one time had 10 but even in town we don’t have a limit on number, as long as no one complains) and even with my now older hens get a good amount of eggs for most of the year.
