Hi another newbie!

Cool! I would love to live on a farm like that!
the chicks I have so far are 3 white silkie bantams and a bantam polish frizzle and one lovely brown hen I bought at the market who lays big beautiful brown eggs but I don't know what type she is, they are so entertaining to watch!

Ha! I get that! That's how I felt the first time I got chicks too! But after 4 years of getting more and more chicks I am used to it:D We had to get more this year because a fox killed all of our chickens but 2 :( We got...

10 Purebred Ameraucanas
3 Black Copper Marans
3 Splash Silkies
1 Buff Orpington
1 Australorp
2 candycorn polish
2 Light polish
1 Buff Brahma
2 Salmon Faverolles
1 Isabel Orpington
1 blue Orpington

So that's 27 chicks in total! Phew!

Glad you're here !

A must have for your poultry is a FIRST AID KIT for any issues that would arise. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/suggestions-for-a-first-aid-kit.1150128/) and (https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...essential-supplies-and-how-to-use-them.64830/)
It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Also, make sure your coop(s) have a proper amount of VENTILATION. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...-there-and-cut-more-holes-in-your-coop.47774/) Your chickens will absolutely thank you for it!
