Not a stupid question at all. Unfortunately, tame cockerels who are lap birds who love to snuggle usually turn out to be the ones who take higher advantage of you in the future. They start becoming mentally mature and realize they don't want you messing with the females and will also attack you just trying to assert their dominance. It is also normal that roosters are more standoffish of men than they are of women, especially if he wasn't regularly socialized around your husband as he was around you. He tends to think of you as more gentle and doesn't think he will get your vengeance. Probably difficult to understand but its the exact opposite of dogs or cats.Thank you very much!
This new flock member appreciates every one of you!!
I know this doesn't sounds very gracious; but I'm glad I'm not the only one with an aggressive roo. I too had to protect myself by use of foot. Lol
I do have a pretty good golf swing with the cornbroom too! It's not been easy. So, I have a question Alexa....
Rodger never, ever bothers my hubby. Is it (here comes the dumb question) a female thing?? I've yet to hear of a cockeral attacking a male.
I know horses, dogs, cats etc can and do have a preference.... But roosters?
Maybe it's because Fiona used to run to me to be picked up and snuggled during the the first couple of weeks and he saw me as a threat? But he snuggled too! He used to be right at the bottom of the pecking order (literally) and totally changed when he got his own digs.... And ladies!!
