Hi everyone! I am new to this forum. I had become an accidental chicken owner around two months ago, based in NYC. I have two chickens that’s I’m still trying to figure out the breed of as well as debating their genders. I hope some of you professional/senior chicken caretakers can help me as I care for my two lovelies!

Thank you everyone for your responses! I’m still nervous with raising them cause I read that one rooster usually would require more than one hen (we don’t really have the space for another and I don’t think my family would want another chicken) and also roosters aren’t permitted in NYC because of their crowing.

roosters aren’t permitted in NYC because of their crowing.

You are going to have to rehome him then.
Post in a Craigslist that is upstate and offer to transport him a fair distance to a good home. Before you rehome him, try to find a pullet you can add to your little flock after she's been quarantined for at least 2 but preferably 4 weeks before you start to integrate her with your current pullet.
