Hi, my name is Bridgett,
New, of course, but I've been lurking here for the past 2 weeks... so I thought I might as well join! This site always showed up in my search engine when I typed in questions about my chicks; obviously, this is a knowledgeable chicken forum!
My parents bought me some chickens 8 years ago (I was in high school), little bantams, but over the years our little flock dwindled down to 1 hen now. So, I'm not quite new to owning chickens, but I definitely know very little about them. Recently, we acquired 3 silkie chicks, so I'm very excited to see them grow up; they're 3 weeks now. I found myself asking a lot of questions about raising them because our hens always took care of the chicks, not me. Haha.
My main hobby is art... drawing (my avatar is a cropped drawing I did in ~2007), pottery, painting, sculpting, leatherwork, photography... think ya'll get the idea.
Here's a couple pics of the silkies ... Pretty sure that I have 2 splashes and 1 grey or blue (not sure yet). All are very friendly and my parents or myself handling them, which is nice since I kinda wanted some sociable chickens.
