It’s nice to meet you!

Hi from Connecticut!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I have just received my first batch of 12 chicks. I decided to get chicks because I want my children to have the same experience I did as a child.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
12 Chicks, 3.5 weeks old.

(3) What breeds do you have?
7 Austrolorps, 2 whiting blues, 2 whiting greens and one of unknown breed. (I posted photos of the unknown breed in another thread on the forum)

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I am excited to have my children see the chicks grow. I love that they are learning responsibility by helping me take care of them.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I am a stay at home mom who likes gardening and hiking with my husband, Jake.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have 2 dogs. Sheena is a chocolate lab and Bailey is a Husky/German Shepard. I also have two Alpine goats named Grumpy and AppleJack.
I am a stay at home mom. Piper is 5 years old and Walter is 2.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
My mom introduced me to the community :)
Hi! I’m also in CT now. About to get hatching eggs if I can, or chicks if I can’t. I specifically want Speckled Sussex.
nice to ‘meet’ you!
