Hi everyone

I have been lurking around for some time now. I have learned a lot already from BYC.

We got our first chicks on Halloween. We have 8 Silver Laced Wyandottes and 2 Buff Orpingtons.

I grew up smelling chickens everywhere in Springdale Arkansas, but never had anything to do with them.
My wife and I finaly moved our two boys out of town this summer. We now have five acres for them to run on and plenty of room for whatever.

We have plans for a garden, small apple orchard, shop, and remodel on the house.

I plan on building the coop as a copy of Carolina Coops Manor House. It is a deep litter coop. I am planing on 4'x6' coop and 6'x6' attached run. If it's not to heavy I would like to use it as a tractor coop.

Thank you in advance for all the help and info.

Jared

P.S. I am not very computer savy. But if I can figure it out I will post the build of the coop.

Welcome to Backyard chickens. Sounds like the birds would be kinda crunched up in such a small coop and run unless you don't plan to keep them all.

Hello Jared!
400

Welcome to BYC and the coop! There's a lot of great peeps here! Feel free to ask lots of questions. But most of all, make yourself at home. I'm so glad you decided to joined the BYC family. I look forward to seeing you around BYC.

Drumstick diva.
I was only planing on 6 but ended up taking home 10. If the hatchery statistics hold at least 2 will be roosters. They said they have an 80% accuracy on sexing.
If I do end up with all ten hens I will be giving a few to my parents.

Thank you all for the warm welcome
