Hi all, what a great site and set of resources!!
I have kept a small number of chickens for years and decided to hatch eggs for first time.
I have just put 12 eggs into the incubator this morning. Very excited!

Good luck with your hatch.

Did you know there is a good aussie thread "Australia, six states and one funny little island"

Sending good hatching vibes your way

Thanks drumstick diva - I will check it out.
Also - I just got a mix of heritage breeds, the lady did run through the names but I quickly forgot, I've figured out most but I have an egg with 'corro' written on it and 2 with 'hp'. Anyone know what breeds they might be?
I can of course just call them, but it's Sunday down under and my curiosity is getting the better of me!

Never mind - all good! The supplier replied very quickly (and on a Sunday!).
If anyone is curious they are a coronation Sussex, and heritage long lay. Our other eggs include Plymouth Rock, barnevelder (autocorrect just put in barn evildoer haha), Ancona (bantam), light Sussex, Wyandotte & polish. So hope it is a successful hatch with at least a few hens!

Hi and :welcome

from SA. Sounds like a very interesting group of breeds. Good luck with your hatch, should be great to watch those chicks grow up.

Enjoy the site :D
