Hi, have kept chickens for the past two years (had some back in '07 and then had a "chicken void" for awhile). Right now I have one Buff Orpington ,Biscuit, and her five chicks (only one is hers, she is an egg thief). I used to have a flock of five, but predation and age took them.

2 red Turkens, Helga and Olga
1 Australorp, Freya, my favorite.

1 ? , Cleo (we think old age got her, the person who gave her to me couldn't remember how long she'd had her, but it was awhile). beautiful whatever she was.
Here she is.

My rooster, Sir Galahad. I have no idea what he was, I'm still learning the breeds.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Sounds like you have a nice flock! Cleo looks like she could have been a Welsummer and Sir Galahad an Easter Egger.

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. My wife and I were both raised in the great state of Texas. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

I ordered a shipment of 15 "Rainbow Layers" from McMurrey, so I will need all the help I can get!

They arrive the week of the 18th and I have never gotten this many before.

You'll do fine. I've ordered from Murray McMurray on several occasions (including from Texas) and I was happy with their service and birds. I never lost more than 1 or 2 chicks in shipping and they always put 2 or 3 extra in the box, so I got what I paid for. Good luck with your shipment.
