In the Brooder

New member here, I’ve long used this site as a reference for chicken related questions and concerns. Your collection of knowledge is so helpful.
Current members of our flock are:
Original Flock:
•Roach the RIR, (Witcher fandom name)
•Yennefer the SL Wyandotte, (same name origin as Roach)
•Kelpie the Black Australorp, (named after Ciri’s horse from The Witcher)
•Hermione the Buff Brahma (HP fandom name)
•Narene the Sapphire Splash (Throne of Glass fandom name; deceased).
Sadly we lost Narene last October to unknown reasons.
Last spring Hermione went broody, so she raised:
•Poppy [Seed Chicken] the BR
•Nagini the black Australorp (HP fandom name)
•Crookshanks the Buff Orph (HP fandom, named for Hermione’s cat; deceased as of this February)
We lost Crookshanks in early March of this year. Also to unknown reasons. She is now buried next to Narene under some primroses and bluebonnets.
Currently, Nagini is broody. So I went out and bought the following for her to raise, but she didn’t want to (rude, lol). So I’m the mama hen to these other three:
•Hedwig the Cream Brabanter (HP fandom name)
•Aloy the Blue-Laced Barnevelder (Horizon Zero Dawn heroine as name source)
•Ikki the ‘brindle’ EE (named for Aang’s youngest granddaughter as seen in The Legend of Korra).
As you can tell from the names, we’re a fairly nerdy household. These ladies are such a joy and I’m so happy to finally have a flock of my own. All of my childhood I wanted hens; but never had the chance. So now we’ve got our little growing family!

Finally, their palace (built in 2020 as a COVID project. Finished it in May, 2020 with a run. Second picture shows the garden I planted along the outside of their run last May.
So anyway, hi everyone! Thanks for going along with the virtual tour of my newest addic— I mean hobby. I used to say I didn’t have an addictive personality; but then COVID lockdown inspired a houseplant and chicken collection…that statement may no longer be accurate.
