Hi, how cold is too cold to keep baby chicks outside without a heat lamp? Under 75 F?

Does it have to be 75 F or over to keep baby chicks outside without a heat lamp? Some nights it's still getting down to about 50 or so, then it warms up into the 70s during the day.

X2 what kakaruk said. You will very very likely need a heat lamp alternative though, but what will work will depend on the factors they listed, whether you have electric set up where they will be, and how “set it and forget it” you want it to be.

How old and will they be in a draft free area? By 3-4 weeks my chicks raised outside start to wean themselves off of heat and by 5 they don’t use it. However, that is with them being raised outside from day 1 or as soon as they arrive in the mail.
