Hi Michelle, it's nice to have you here with us! Sounds like your boy is feeling those hormones kick in. If he continues to be aggressive, you might be better off sending him to freezer camp (others may have better solutions). Good luck!

Hiya, Michelle, and welcome to BYC! :frow

Like @N F C said, one way to deal with overly aggressive cockerels is to cull them. You can try separate him to a pen or place all by himself for a few weeks to see if he settles down. The problem is, that can take months to only find out, he's just a mean rooster you don't want.

It's hard sometimes but it makes your life and hen's lives much more peaceful to just have a normal, nice rooster watching out for them, not attacking them or you.

Welcome to BYC, Michelle. I have a hand reared hen who bites when she wants my attention. I love the little dickens. I just pick her up and hold her for a few minutes. That usually does the trick for a few days. I've found roosters sometimes need correcting more often. You may need to hold him every day for a while. A quick "peck" on his head with your finger can be a big deterrent also. You may feel bad about correcting him, but its in his best interest to behave.
