Honey enjoys company, humans, lambs, cats and rabbits but I figured she needed some chicken friends so I'm in the process of hatching some for her (I set 6 wyandotte eggs and 6 silkies, last Friday) This site has been a fantastic source of information and I am thrilled that there are so many other chicken lovers out there. I didn't know what I was missing, Honey lays an egg nearly every day, she comes when she's called and puts herself to bed everynight ready for shutting in the coop at dusk. She only gets to free range when I'm home, during the day when I'm working (I'm an Occupational Therapist) she has a nice safe run.
Apart from chickens, I have three cats and two rabbits, one farmer husband who has 300 beef cattle and 500 sheep! and a 14 year old son who wants to be a rock star (drummer) . I love photography and the scottish countryside.
I found the site on google when looking for info about hatching chicks, what a great find. I'm looking forward to reading more posts and making new friends!
