Facebook has poultry groups for everywhere, you just have to find ones for your area and peruse down through the posts and see if you find someone selling chicks or chickens near you, or else just post what you're looking for.

Not really. If you have a mixed flock of birds that all have normal feathering and are egg layers or dual purpose breeds, they all have the same needs.
I have a mixed flock with about 15 different breeds including half breeds. Everyone has access to the same foods and all roost in the same coop.
