I am in search of egg laying age hens for free or small adoption fee, I am located in Placerville, California, they would get a GREAT home with a huge coop and outdoor run for free range during the day. Yes, I have been searching on craigslist, offerup, all the facebook chicken rehoming groups, and all the local shelters near me as well, with no such luck yet...

Try looking at battery hen rescues. There are many in California.
