Hi, My name is Shirley and currently I don't have any chickens. I'm a big time animal lover.

G’Day from down under csusie :frow Welcome!

I hope very much that your neighbour's chicken is doing OK.

I also hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

Pictures would help. Her belly could be filled up with fluid. @casportpony and all other experts, help!
I took pictures this a.m. But am getting a message of The uploaded file does not have an allowed extension. I don't know how to fix it. It is a Rhode Island Red hen that is about five years old. It is pooping, neighbor said yesterday it wasn't. She meant to say not what it would do normally. Her feathers look great, her breath doesn't smell, but her belly is very large and squeaky. She has been eating and drinking, eyes look good. Her posture is not right, she is standing upright with her butt low to the floor. I gave her Hpericum perforation 30, waited fifteen minutes and no change. Her breathing looked a little labored and doesn't move much. The owner said she has worsened since yesterday and there are no vets to see her. This has been going on for three weeks. I advised again to keep her warm, turn the lights off to help calm, let her eat if she wishes and to just leave her be. I think it is a matter of days before she passes. With that sad news I want to thank everyone that replied to me yesterday and wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy Health New Year.
