I agree with the other posters
You need proper feed for a chick other wise it won't get the nutrients it needs and newspaper is not ideal and can cause leg issues like splayed leg.
Your chick probably needs better housing then a shoe box, even something like a rabbit cage would be better.
Good bedding to use is pine shavings (not cedar shavings because they are toxic) and if you can't do that, atleast shred the newspaper.
Your chick should have food and water in its "home" at all times, they are very fragile at that age.
But you have to plan for some type of pen (preferably outside) for once its grown.
If you can, get the chick a buddy around the same age. They are very social creatures and don't do well without their own kind.
Please don't take any of these comments as attacks, we are just trying to inform you on the needs of a chicken.
Preferably its better to study the needs of an animal before you acquire one.
