Hi. New to doves with one about to hatch

Okay Another question for you guys, I'm curious as young Maddox is turning out to be this lovely pale silver grey color how like the final colour these first feathers usually are? Is it likely he is just going to eventually molt a different color? Both the parents are darker than he is now (though the previous male was lighter but that had to be 8 weeks pre eggs)

Took some photos today as I had to cart him round with me while I found some dry newspaper for under his hay because he kept climbing out of the temporary nest I usually put him in :). Will upload them in a sec.
Once his feathers have grown out you can expect him to stay the same color as he matures. There will be some change, but the color will stay pretty much as it is.

My guess as to what Maddox will look like. Picture from yahoo images.

That would be pretty :). I'm still holding on to hope he might get Dads white tail as well though :)

Now that would be super pretty :). He is light compared to mum and dad, especially considering mum is twice as dark as dad above.

When pigeons first molt at six months, and at a year even, especially when ashing like his parents have, he could go another color from what is now. One family of birds I have does this n frustrating but pleasantly surprising as well.

My not so little man :). Three weeks old tomorrow!

I'd popped him on the ground while I cleaned his bed and he complained so dad fed him :)

Wont be long till he is as big as dad I suspect!

That's so cute ,,, but try not to move him from the nest, when you clen just place him near the nest, as the parents might think he's moving around on his own and might wean him early...

Well poor bubs is not happy today. Four weeks old yesterday and mum and dad appear to have stopped feeding him now he has come out. Mum is settled on the nest again as she is normally first out for breakfast and this morning she didn't budge.

Bubs is trying desperately to get dad to feed him but he is ignoring his cries. Poor thing must have been hungry because when I topped up the feed dish he came over wings flapping and put his beak between my fingers trying to get me to feed him. Normally my hand makes him scurry away.

He is eating some feed himself, he eats a dozen bits then stops, but should he also be getting a bit of a parent top up still or is it all over by four weeks and they stop so he has to eat the other food?
