Hi, Thanks for allowing me to join. I have many questions regarding becoming a new chicken owner.

Greetings from Iowa! Beautiful hen for sure. Sounds to me like she found you! Someone who will care for her and make sure she is safe. I agree with the other greeters, if you have the ability, make her a predator proof home and get a friend or two. Chickens are the best! Not only are they pets, they lay amazing eggs too! Again, welcome!

Here's a short video, She's doing great!, She's been laying for about 2 weeks,.. She's using the coop to lay,. but still insists on roosting in the arborvitae overnight. There's a couple neighborhood cats that come around to "play",.. they seem to be coming to mutual agreements as to what is close enough and what is too close, same with the squirrels.

I purchased water and food feeders, crumble and pellets (she prefers crumble), meal worms, electrolytes, hay and pine shavings, built wind breaks, etc..

She'll eat out of our hands and comes running in the am and pm when we offer her salad and berries, worms, fresh water, etc.

Thanks for the help getting started..

What a lovely life you are giving her, but, I bet it has made yours better as well.
