Relocated from MA to IL due to family... was guilty of impulse buying 20 chicks at a local farm store, knowing NOTHING about chicken raising. Now have 20 healthy, happy, hilarious hens. 10 Silver Lace Wyandottes (anyone have a SLW roo in need of good home? The girls keep asking me for a husband.) and 10 Red Sex Links ladies. The RSLs have been laying since September. The SLWs started Oct/Nov. There may be one nonlayer, can't quite tell... we peaked at 19 eggs a day, now down to about 12 a day. Interested in hearing from other chicken folks in central IL, eastern MA, and anywhere else for tips, tricks, funny stories, pix of your chix, and chicken chat. Happy Thanksgiving! --- "Polly Purebred"

Glad you're here Polly!

If you haven't yet, please make your chickens a FIRST AID KIT for any issues that would arise.
It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Also, make sure your coop(s) have a proper amount of VENTILATION. Your chickens will absolutely thank you for it! :D
