Well, I guess I make my first stupid mistake today. Took the g-baby on a field trip to get a couple of EE. He is really a good baby but getting to be an armful at 7 months.
I let the clerk pick out the chicks and box them up without holding or inspecting them. It was a bit of a drive for me and almost home I heard an odd sound coming from the box. At the next stoplight I peeked into the box and one chick was hunkered down wheezing.
I kept her separate and called the feed store, but I cannot take her back for several days. She eats, walks around, her stool looks OK so far. I am hoping it is nothing serious and she turns out to be OK. In the meantime I worry that if she is sick my other chicks will get sick too. She is isolated and the other chick I bought appears to be fine in every way so far.
Next time I will have the clerk hold the baby for a minute while I pick out my chick!
BTW, Bossy keeps flying over to the tub with the bantams, so her wings got clipped today!
