Been lurking here for a while, reading and pondering. Well today I will probably pick up a few chicks at the local feed store to raise out.
I live in the city but am a backyard farmer with raised garden squares and several fruit trees. Been wanting chickens for a while but wasn't sure I was ready to take them on. When I read the article about composting with chickens - that did it. I am in !!
Just think - eggs, veggies, soil improvement and occasional meat. A step closer to self sufficiency. I cannot imagine anything better!
Newly retired and caring for the g-children. They're gonna love it, too !!
