(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I currently don't raise any chickens, but I used to when I was a teenager, with my uncle.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

Previous question says it all :D

(3) What breeds do you have?

Previous question says it all :D

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

I've been planning on moving to Italy to start a homestead for the past few years, and used to come here and read the topics to be prepared. More on this topic in the last question!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I really enjoy woodworking, fishing, and the odd gaming session.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I'm currently a 21 year old male, living with my parents(Which is a great way to save money in my situation),single, working as a programmer, however when I was 18 I used to read about homesteads, hobby farms, etc, and in a nutshell, where I live, in Malta, you need to be rich to buy even an acre of land! So that same year I did a lot of research, and found Italy to be brilliant! Sicily(Island in Italy) is like 60 miles away from Malta, and the flight there ranges between 10-30 euros, and we have the same climate, zone 10 I believe, which is perfect! I am actually in the process of buying 5 acres in Sicily and if everything goes to plan, I will move there in July. My main problem is that I have to find an employer that will hire me part-time, as it's very difficult to hire a part-time programmer. I can't work full-time as it would be almost impossible to run a family farm / homestead while working that many hours. My parents also highly approve of this idea. For the first year or two, I will buy an RV till I save enough to renovate the current cottage that is located on the property, as it's basically abandoned right now. Hopefully I will start being active in this forum, see you around! :)

Welcome from New Orleans, wow, Your plan sounds great! So glad your parents approve and that you will be fairly close to them. Hope you keep us posted on how you are doing from time to time. This site is full of knowledgeble, non judgemental people who are happy to help with questions at the drop of a hat. (they also tend to be fun!) Good luck with your project and don't hesitate to ask questions should they come up. I am really excited for you. :frow
