Sorcha sighed and shifted to her dragon form to fly back to the castle with the others. She didn't know what else to do on her own, but she knew they would have to plan this out.

Starr nodded and followed Avalon to the war room, looking to Sorcha when she came in

"It is not a group, but a job we were given, one we have failed in a way" Don said then sighed "But, yes, I am a guardian."

Kyra smiled even with her eyes closed, just because he was there and with her. "You will get a sunburn if you aren't careful, sitting around without a shirt on"

Jackie smiled and nodded 'Yes, I can understand you' she thought to him 'This is different than what I did before, but I think it is better'

Skylar nodded and went to open the door to the backseat "You want to ride back there or up here with us?" She asked softly.

Jason and Anna got out when they arrived at the hotel again.

Avalon watched as Ender and his brother led the other Sylph in. The looks on their faces ranging from anger, frustration, to quit determination. She'd composed herself before she walked though the door. Her father had always lectured her by saying, " Avalon, regardless of what you feel when you crossed through this threshold, you leave it at the door. It weakens you and only clouds your judgments. It is ineffectual to your people and makes them doubt your decisions. As well, as your authority to make them. She blinked as she came out of her reflection. As the last Sylph filed in, she addressed the assembly. "We knew this day was coming. It had been building for a long while. Be it dumb luck or the results of careful planning, that far off date, has happened tonight." She looked to Ender, " How strong are his forces? How many of his generals got through? " She inquired.

Ender stepped forward and said, " The exact number, I do not know. But I can state the confirmed ones I saw. Thorn, Enoch, Tyr, Xton, Tutus, Jago, Kote, Zach, Lavern, Saber and Elina. "

"So it's going to be a magic war as well as a physical one. Thorn, Enoch and Elina are problems. They are our highest priority, next to Racine himself. " She looked to Sorcha. "What are your thoughts? "

Ender went back to his spot and looked to Sorcha.

Xavier bowed his head in deference. " I meant no offense, if any were taken. I'd say by Markus's current moods the past few months, you are doing a very good job protecting your fellow shifters. " He replied quietly.

Graydon leaned up on his elbow and looked down at Kyra confused. "How can the sun burn me when it's not even hot? " He asked curiously.

Kyra chuckled at that and opened her eyes to look at him again "I am not sure, but it can" She said then shrugged "It can also make you sick to stay in it too long, but that's more like an all day thing and without any shade at all"

Jackdaw shook his head, "I did not kill everyone. I was framed. I was locked in the tower when that happened. Only to find the door unlocked when I woke." He explained trying hard to remember that night. He shook his head again. She was trying to distracted him again. He looked ahead and saw the door. He picked uo his pace. He had to hurry, some was happening to his master. The sooner he got outside, the sooner he could shift.

Degan burst out laughing. "Who says we're arguing. It's more a statement of facts. " He called out to her.

Pyro nodded and turned them in the right direction to head home. His massive wing clipped Degan's rump. Pyro then caught an up draft and rocked up into the air . Once at the height he desired, he leveled out and soared effortlessly.

Degan yelled up at them, "Show off much?" He then tried the same thing and it also worked for him. Pretty cool, he'd forgot so much about flying it wasn't funny. But he'd not admit that to brimstone breath.

Pandora nodded and said, " Very responsible and logical. Your species were war minded. So you had to take precautions. "

Dawn grabbed his hand. "Jackdaw, stop." She looked around and found a closet. Not really thinking, she shoved him into the nearest closet and slammed the door shut. "Tell me what's going on." sh said through the door.

Zia laughed. "At least you guys have wings. I usually walk everywhere all the time."

Dust nodded. "But what is good to us is always changing. It would be foolish to say 'what is pleasing to me is what is good'. Amputation is not pleasing, but it is often good for it was not done, many would die for infection or things of that kind. Medicine is not please, but it is often good. Punishment is not pleasing at the time, but it is good in the end."

Avalon nodded, "Very good plan. But can such spells hold up aginst metaphysical assaults. Such as Enoch's kinetic abilities. He'll turn the environment aginst us. Elina the sky, for she's electromagnetic. Racine collected talents. The rarer the better. Those two are not in our arsenal.

"My queen, may I ask Sorcha a question?" Jaeger asked timidly. At her nod, he continued. " Is there not a way to make a shielding pendant, like the personal protection pendants we already have? That way the non magic wielding fighters can have a better chance? "

The group waited for her answer.

Xavier scoffed at that. "You forest was doomed the moment settlers set up a town there. Better you had slaughtered them back then. " He replied indifferently.

Graydon thought about it before reaching over her to get his soaked shirt from he right. He squeezed it slightly as he brought his arm back over her.

Bertram thought to her, 'They took him to have the tracker out of him.' He had reached the outer edges of Jackie's property. He finally let down his gaurd loosening up all over as he walked onwards. ' That bull one, is a reason never to sleep again. ' He tried for humor, but the uncontrollable shudder negated it. 'He'd tossed me like I'd weighed nothing.'

Jaxon looked around at the back of the vehicle. It was quite different then what he was used to. But he slowly climbed in when Skylar did. He looked to her and smiled. She spoke so soothingly to him. Is helped him greatly. "Thank you for sitting with me." He whispered softly, do the others wouldn't hear.

Soon enough the reached their floor. Zypher followed Anna out and got the keys front his pocket. But he needn't of bothered.

Raine opened up the door and said grandly, "Welcome home!"

Luce got up off the couch and looked eagerly for Jason. Her heart in her throat. But smiled widely, as she saw his handsome face. "Thank the heavens." She said softly in gratitude to the cosmos.

Zypher smiled and ruffled Raine's hair as he walked by. "Hey! That's what I get for watching after you place for you? " He complained.

Zypher chuckled, "You mean freeloading?" He teased mildly.

Raine made a raven sound and said, "My wife and myself are quite well off. Thank you very much. Besides, I have to care for Anna's beautiful plants." He said with pride.

Don shrugged "Before there was a town, and up until the forest was destroyed we were happy to share our land with the humans, without their knowledge of course.While there are some bad ones, most are pretty decent." He shrugged lightly

Kyra yelped a little and say up, moving away from his wet shirt "That was cold"

Jackie shivered as well, remembering the bull charging at her suddenly "Ah, not one I want to have attack again." She thought then shook her head

Skylar smiled at him again "Not a problem, I like riding in the back anyway, you get more snacks this way" She said teasing a bit, just to get him more used to such banter. She leaned over and grabbed a bag, pulling t closer and digging in it until she brought out a smaller bag that had trail mix in it "Do you eat meat or are you a vegetarian, or do you eat anything?" She asked, looking to him again

"Thank you Raine" Anna said as she came in, dodging Luce when the girl passed her to get to Jason. She was glad someone had been there to take care of the plants for her.

Jason opened his arms to hug Luce when the two reached each other. He leaned over to give her a kiss then smiled "Hey"

Absmi was looking for Dawn when she hear her voice. She had to tell her about the state of things. She rounded a corner and saw her talking to a door. Curiously she walked over to her. "Lady Dawn?" She asked quietly.

"Never my lady. If by chance you happen to fall off, I'd catch you before you'd go splat. " Pyro said with a note of humor.

Degan laughed at that. "Hey, that could be on a greeting card. Hallmark has nothing on you." He stated good-naturedly.

Pandora gave a serpentine smile. "Our good differs between us. To me, good is a hard won victory, the sampling of conquered flesh and the freedom of my domain.

Aeval looked at Dust and stated, "My goods are far more simple. It's the cool clear water to drink, the sanctuary of a safe cave, to which I call home and my new friendship with you Dust. I've never had that before and I'm finding it difficult to see my life without you in it.

Ena thought as Aeval talked. When she finished, she smiled down at him. "Mine are: the wind in my face, the sun on my scales, the feasts of the forest and the lakes." She then grew serious, as she looked hard at Dust. "And my own identity. It is good to have the name you gave me."

Sorcha nodded, looking from Avelon to Jaeger "Yes to both, though the mirror spell would only hold up to a few blunt attacks. We can have the non-combatants working on pendants spells since those have to be both stronger and last longer than the mirroring spells."

Don shrugged "Before there was a town, and up until the forest was destroyed we were happy to share our land with the humans, without their knowledge of course.While there are some bad ones, most are pretty decent." He shrugged lightly

Jaeger smiled slightly, relieved. He had never understood why Sylphs had limited magic abilities. They could call portals and direct their healing abilities. But that was pretty much it. Just another reason they were viewed as inferior. "Thank you, princess Sorcha."

Avalon rolled out the map of the area and invited her generals to come forward. Sorcha being one of them. "Where is the best possible place to have this battle. I want him away form that portal. No retreat and no reinforcements. I want this threat over with." She explained simply.

Ender looked at the lay of the land and stated, "Perhaps we could direct his charge this way my Queen. Not only will it buy us valuable time, but this location is fairly devoid of rocks that could be possible projectiles."

Spyro shook his head, "with respect brother, That location will leave us wide open to the sky. I do not want to be struck by Elina's lightning." He said as he looked up at Sorcha. " Even with shielding. A lot can go wrong." He expressed his fear.

Prince Abraxas spoke up. "But it's close to a water source. I need that water for my talent. Have faith in princess Sorcha's abilities. She has the best magic of us all." He said, as he turned to look at her and bowed his head in respect. Before looking back down at the map.

Avalon straightened and addressed the larger issues. "How do we encourage him to go that route. He has a dragon. Terrain is not an optional for him."

Xavier nodded slightly, glad to hear Don at least saw some humans as good. " So how do you suppose you'll get out of here? This place is miles under the earth. Not am easily escape for a mole." He asked quietly.

"And it was slightly mean. I'm sorry Kyra." Graydon said with remorse, as he wrung out his shirt and slipped it on over his shoulders. As he pulled it into place, he glanced over to see if she was mad at him.

Jaxon frowned at her question, then figured out why. She was to feed him. "Meat." He said in apology.

"You see? Alpha Anna appreciates my devotion to her greenery." Racine said with enthusiasm.

Zypher grinned and showing all his teeth. A hyenas version of greeting a pack mate.

Raine stepped behind Anna and whispered, "Save me, he going to eat me."

Zypher frowned and sighed.

Luce giggled softly in happiness, "Hey yourself. I was so worried about you. I'm glad you're home." She said.

Keira quietly shut the door and moved awkwardly to the living room. She glanced all around the penthouse curiously. She finally slipped into an oversized chair. She jumped as a hand appeared in front of her. She looked up to find a beautiful red head with diamond white eyes. "Hello, welcome to the pack. I'm Aurelius. I'm a griffin." She said. Keira took the offered hand and shook it. "I'm Keira, a maned wolf. Nice to meet you. I'm honored to be a member." Keira said with a smile.

Sorcha was quiet as she studied the map. She had never looked at it from a defensive standpoint before. There hadn't been much need to. Finally she shook her head and looked around at them all "We already have the best defensive place right here in the castle. We have access to all the elements and walls to shield behind. Plus he won't want to destroy the castle itself. This is going to be the last war between us, win or lose. Besides, if we stay here, then he won't be able to sneak around to take the throne." She said then looked to Avelon again.

Don chuckled softly "I have ways." He said then shrugged "And as you said, you are not good, so there is no reason for me to tell you" He reached for the water again, playing with the bottle between his hands "You would be surprised at what us shifters have accomplished I think"

Kyra wasn't mad, she had thought he was playing again, getting her back for tickling him earlier. She tilted her head a bit then grinned then hugged him."Apology accepted"

Jackie shook her head "There's no way to know" She said and looked to the house as they came up to it. "Probably back to what he knows"

Skylar smiled and held out some jerky to him "It's rabbit jerky, we try to always keep food and medical supplies close" She explained then got a piece for herself.

Anna laughed and shook her head, looking to Raine "No, he's greeting his pack member in his traditional way" She explained then looked back to Zypher and smiled at him

Jason kissed her gently then sighed and looked away "I can't stay>" He said then explained about his father and needing to take over the pack for him
