Racine and Thorn returned from their hunt. Reaper reluctantly release their catch from his claws. Racine left Thorn to distribute the meat for cooking, as he headed for the tent his men had erected in his absence.
~
Reaper wondered off to look for his own meal. That's when he'd found Maydaw's body. He quickly made good use of it. He understood why Racine kept him hungry before a battle. He had no grievances with his methods. So this dead creature would only curb his hunger, not satisfy it.
Vatgkan watched in horror as his pet was devoured by Racine's black beast. He didn't understand what had happened. It had been so sudden. But here he was, back in Anstopfia. Held by two gaurds and his angry king. A king who hadn't spoken to him, except for his order for his capture. When he'd ran into the chest of that beast, he knew he was in deep trouble.
Lavern looked over at Vatgkan and laughed at the look upon his face. "You look like Reaper's eating you, dear Vatgkan. The guilt you must feel for betraying your king."
Kote chuckled darkly and stated, "That may still be a favorable out come. King Racine is not pleased with your failure. I wonder which form he'll have him devour. Your scrawny fey form or your fey animal?"
The other generals around the fire laughed heartily at the joke.
Vatgkan could only curve in on himself. In a failed attempt to make himself smaller.
