Spyro hurried to catch up with Ender. Once he did, he slammed his back aginst the hallway and sent away all in the vicinity. He then focused a glare into Ender's eyes, forcing their link open to say with a snarl, "Where are you going, brother?!"
Ender winced at the look in Spyro's eyes. "I must leave queen Avalon's court. I'm going to king Racine's." He replied mentally.
Spyro drew Ender away from the wall, in order to slam him aginst it again. "Why then brother, did you break the covenants and mandates, just to leave her in maddening agony?! You know you are not to touch the royals. Let alone THE QUEEN!! The covenant decrees you end your life before you even think about uttering a twirl to a royal. If you lacked the courage to do it, you should have asked me. You have destroyed the very thing you loved so much. Is it too late?" Spyro demanded mentally, thinking of the state he'd found Avalon in.
"No, it's not too late." Ender spoke aloud.
Spyro stepped back and yelled, "Then do your duty or I'll do it for you!!"
Ender knelt down upon his knees, while withdrawing his dagger to lay on the floor beside him. He then started unlacing and taking off his armored breastplate. He then moved Racine's portal pendant so it hung between his wings down his back. He slowly worked on the ties down the front of his shirt and opening it to expose his bare chest, before picking up the dagger and placing the sharp point between two ribs. Then looked up to Spyro with tears in his eyes. "At least tell her, I'm sorry for what I said, I was cruel for a reason. I wanted her to hate me." He explained.
Spyro watched him with absolute sorrow, but knew it was the only way to save Avalon. The mating heat couldn't get her if there wasn't a mate to complete it. "I will, my brother." He said with respect. But then Ender froze all of a sudden. "Ender? Ender, what's the matter?!" asked confused.
"This is not the way. I will not abide by this." Racine said from a short distance behind Spyro.
Spyro spun around drawing his dagger with a growl. Only to find Racine standing there. He settled from being startled and put the weapon way. "I know not what you mean." He answered, played coy.
Racine smiled knowingly, as he stepped forward. " It matters not, I wouldn't allow him to do this." He said as he stopped in front of Ender's prone form. He leaned forward to take the dagger from his frozen hand.
Spyro then realized what had happened. "You've stopped time! That's an impossible talent." He said amazed.
"Yes, I did and it's only one of my talents. It costs me greatly though, but he's worth it." Racine said simply. As he slipped the dagger in his belt. "But apparently only I see his worth, you'd rather have him honor kill himself. Over what? These stupid laws of my dead father." He stated as he reached to bring the dragon's breath pendant back around to hang properly upon Ender's chest. "It's a good thing I took a walk tonight, my friend. " He said quietly to Ender, as he gently caressed his hair, just before he started time again.
Ender came to life and made a soft sound at the lack of his dagger in his hand. He realized then king Racine was standing before him. "What? Where? What just happened?!" He asked quizzically.
"You now owe me a life debt and I want your bound. You choose my house and in doing so, you belong to me. You cannot kill yourself Ender, when your life is in service of mine." He said. He nodded approval, as Ender bared his throat to him. Racine leaned forward nicking Ender with his oath tooth. He drew a mouth full of blood, then healed the wound as he swallowed, as was the custom of sealing a blood oath. "Now come, I'm extremely tired." He commanded in a whisper, before he straightened and walked away.
Ender frowned slightly, at the change of events, but did as his new king commanded. Ender got to his feet and grabbed his armor to follow after Racine.
Spyro watched almost slack-jawed he'd never actually seen a blood oath preformed before. It was a very old custom.
