I am reading the popular book, Chicken Health Handbook and it references the Hellavad hen showing extreme resistance to disease. Someone else posed this same question on BYC but asked about chicken breeds where as the relevance to the topic in the book is a BLOODLINE trait as this bloodline, though being a mix of common breeds, was bred without preventative treatment or medication for 45 years except for vacs for New Castle which resulted in a batch of chickens that over many years developed a genetic resistance/immunity to many diseases. My question is, are there any other known bloodlines or breeders who have bred in the same way here in the U.S. that also sell chicks/pullets? Something that can be added to a current flock to improve genetics for fighting off disease and long term sustainability? The book mentions, Fayoumi, Kraienkoppe and Naked Necks but again, they are breeds not bloodlines.
