Are there still High Springs chicken folks around here? I have some questions about chicken ordinances!

Hi there! I am in High Springs (5 acres by water treatment facility across from Tillman acres) and just acquired 12 chickens (don't even know what kind yet) coop, and supplies from someone who was moving out of state and could not take them. I have been wanting some for years so it was "meant to be". I will be looking for advise as I want to give them a good home. I know they are currently laying 3-4 dozen/week. they handled the move well and are in coop for the day to adjust. I will let them out tomorrow to explore there new 60'x30' fenced space.

Totally have to comment on this. Does anyone in highsprings know if the neighborhood behind the ball park on 441 is allowed to have chickens and ducks? Possible home buying in the future downsizing property by alot :/

I lived in high springs until 6 months ago. I lived just outside the city limits on 236 north of the school. I am also the leader of the alachua county 4h poultry club in high springs. I believe the ordinance is 5 hens in city limits, no roosters. As long as you're not in an HOA. You can always call or go by city hall and ask to know for sure. Out of city limits is 25 birds per acre, hens and roosters allowed.
Tricia
