His wattle looks like a balloon!

OK! I found the tutorial and I'm getting the pictures set up for posting. My computer is slow so I probably will not finish and post them until tomorrow.

Cross your fingers........

I had to edit a couple pictures because they were too dark. I am posting both the original and the edited pictures.

This is how Eagle looked about 9 months ago:

I may post more pictures later to show his wattles returning to normal. He looks fat with the body swelling.

Well, I don't ususally post my own picture, but my kids think I should.

Hi Connie and
welcome-byc.gif
!! Great to have another Clevelander on here! I've been looking for a local vet who does chickens; I think there's one out here but I'm not sure. Can you please post or PM me the name of yours?

Eagle is beautiful and I hope he will be ok

Don't have any advice except what the vet told you. You are so fortunate to have a vet that will see chickens in your area. I hope he gets better. He is beautiful! Maybe he'll pull out of this in a couple of days.

poor little guy...

have you asked the vet about allergy reaction..or insect bite treatment?
prednisone might help with the swelling..

he's a gorgeous roo..

sure hope he gets better.

I don't mind sharing the vet's name at all. Sharon Center Veternary Hopital. They are in Medina. 330-239-1115. 2131 Sharon Copley Rd. Dr. Rob Nathan is Eagle's doctor. You can do Map Quest to see were that is from you.

Eagle did not have an allergic reaction to anything. He has a respiratory infection. What we don't know is, what caused it. Still waiting for lab work to show something.

His watlles and ear lobes are back to normal. He still has some swelling under his chest and belly/thighs. His neck is normal and he crows normally again.

I needed more meds for Eagle but I had no time to make the trip back to Medina. The doctor tried to call the script into the pharmacy, near my home, but they would not fill it. I got my sister's vet to agree to fill the script from my vet.

She is Dr. Hart in North Royalton. She does not even see birds. I picked up the meds and paid her for them. Saved a lot of time and gas.

I'll try to post some current pictures to show his improvments.

Thanks for all you interest, suggestions, inquiries.

Connie & Eagle, et al

I'm glad he is doing better and thank you for the vet info. That was nice of Dr. Hart to fill that for you! Hope he continues to improve and is back to normal soon!
