Hmm, mess up at the store? Is this a Welsummer?

LemonberryMoon, where did you get your chicks? I've seen some off-color legs on hatchery chicks before but to have two with white skin makes me think they may be something else.

Ha! I love this post! I have 6 week old welsummer, brown leghorn and a speckled sussex!! Based on what my girls look like and the more salmon chest color, my vote is welsummer. My welsummer's legs were much lighter than the leghorns when the were younger but now they are just about as yellow. My leghorn has a bit more brown chest instead of the salmon brown of the welsummer. The leghorns chest feathers are lined with a little bit of black at this point?? They are very similar, but side by side the leghorn has an overall darker appearance

Hello all, I'm hoping that someone here can help me out. I got some chicks at the local feed store about three weeks ago. I picked up two that were in the Speckled Sussex bin, but I'm thinking there has been a mix up. I've been concerned because the one Speckled Sussex is clearly starting to show its 'speckled-ness', while the other is not. The one has pink legs, while the other has yellow legs. I suspect that someone put a chick back into the wrong bin maybe? I've been looking around at pictures, and from what I see, it seems that the one 'Speckled Sussex' might actually be a Welsummer. What do you think? They were selling Welsummers there too, though the bin was a few bins down from the one holding the Speckled Sussex. Here is a pic of the chick in question: close up of her face (sorry for the dark picture) Here is the Speckled Sussex- (by the way, do you think its a rooster? Its about 3 1/2 weeks.) I would think the yellow legs is a dead give-away that these two are not the same breed. I'm worried this Speckled Sussex is a male. The legs look a bit thick to me. What do you think. Thanks for any replies!
I got 2 surprise chicks that were supposed to be BPR... look just like the top picture but with dark brown legs..any guesses?

Ours came from Wilco (our local farm supply store) All the welsummers in the brooder there looked exactly like these two. The seven chicks we got are our first so we are definitely not breed experts! One of our Ameraucana/Araucana EE looks very similar, but has less red tint. All three do have the white legs though. Our other two
Ameraucana/Araucanas are black/red/brown with black feet.... There was an equal mix of these colors of Ameraucanas in the bins.

Welsummers are supposed to lay the dark brown eggs <- I read "dark brown eggs" not legs...... Whoops! My two dark Ameraucanas have dark legs (pictured above)

UPDATE!

Well, its been several months. The pullet in question is laying eggs now. They are WHITE EGGS! So she is a Brown Leghorn and not a Welsummer!

She is quite tiny though. She has not grown much in size. Her eggs are tiny too. Any possibilities that she is also a bantam? I've never had any before. How would one know?

She is much more beautiful now than in all those pics I've posted. I've taken to call her "tink" or "squirt", because of her size, instead of 'sparrow", though I will probably stay with that name. She is a real sweetie- she doesn't mind a cuddle here and there. I was worried if she was a Brown Leghorn she would not be personable. I'll see if I can put up a recent pic here soon.

OH and I should state also that the Speckled Sussex in question is also a female. I don't think she is laying yet, but should be soon. (My roo has taken to her, and she is quite smitten with him, as she loves to hang around by his side.)
