I am going to modify my back roll outs to hold more eggs.

i grew up with a lot of chickens...one great thing i have learned...and you prob know this...place the roosts as high as possible and boxes low...like 24-36.” growing up we had about 75 boxes in a 30x100’ coop. the roosts were same level as the boxes...about 3 feet. having a drastic difference between roost and box...way better. my roosts are all around 9 feet

confused...it has a top. it holds almost three bushels, has a top..i only removed the metal on top of the feed...what are you picturing?

if you look at the pics above you’ll see it. there’s no cover on the feed part but i don’t have mice/rat/opossum/raccoon/fox/weasel problems...and when do...it ends fast. :)

look at second pic...the feed is indoors...i also don’t live in an area with a lot of pest animals. i live on a farm...with predatory pets...dogs and cats. Ironically, the dogs are no o help...the three cats kill anything that moves.
Oh sorry I meant a lid the birds will jump on on the top and poop in there.
